ALL THE MODELS TO THE FLOOR RIGHT NOW

REBECCA TAYLOR SS 2011 RTW - Just some summer inspiration from NYFW back in September.

Soft floral and polka dot printed silk blouses and dresses, high waisted denim flares with diagonal zip pockets, pleated chiffon skirts that dropped to the feet, and a touch of python that gave the collection a bite. Even a few cotton crews and buttoned down henley's snuck in.

Lots of summer trends all rolled into one dazzling collection.

SATISFYING MY SWEET TOOTH

Here in Michigan, it's very hard to find a place that makes decent French Macarons. So as I was in the Royal Oak/Ferndale area earlier today, I couldn't help but make a pit stop at PINWHEEL BAKERY :) I didn't have my camera with me until I got home, so I had to result to taking a single photo before they were all gone.

Today's selection consisted of raspberry, strawberry, vanilla, pistachio, dulce de leche, and chocolate.

Now the key to a good Macaron is this:
+ the cookie should have an eggshell-like crust on the top, and a moist/chewy consistency underneath (almost like a meringue).
++ it must have a "foot" (the crackly ringlet that surrounds the bottom of the cookie).
+++ the filling should be light and have a decadent flavor to it.

Pinwheel does a great job making these babies. If you are from around here and a Macaron addict like myself, I suggest you take a trip to Ferndale! And a special thanks to  TOO FANCY FOR PAPER for filling me in on this place. *Cough* Click the link to see her blog *Cough*. It's just about as fab as that scene from Funny Face... you know, when Jo dances in that smokey jazz bar in a pair of loafers?  Makes me smile every time.

FOR ALL THE MEN CURRENTLY FORMING A LINE OUTSIDE MY DOOR [SARCASM]: I hate red roses but these are exquisite.

Ah, Blake Lively in a seed-bead embroidered strapless dress from Marchesa Resort 2011. Superb. Her style just seems so effortless.

And I thought I had a large book collection...

FRESHEN UP A BIT

Guacamole is one of my favorite things to make for a snack because it's tastes fresh and is delicious. It's the perfect summer treat and is so easy to make! I found this recipe on  KATE SPADE'S website and after trying it out, I must say that it beats my original recipe. The thing is, my recipe requires more household items so it would save you from a trip to the grocery store. Instead of tomatillos and jalapeño, I usually just use red tomatoes and tabasco sauce to give it that kick. Either way, the results turn out great! Enjoy!

ingredients:

3 avocados, peeled, pitted and mashed
3 tomatillos, husked and chopped (to make about 1 cup)
1 red onion, finely chopped
juice of 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons)
1 jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
salt and pepper to taste

directions:

1. mix all ingredients in a medium bowl

2. cover, and refrigerate for fifteen minutes before serving

BLUE FOUNDATION - EYES ON FIRE

I don't care if this is older, depressing, and from the Twilight Soundtrack. I just like this song (and the Zed's Dead remix).

THE NEW BOHO CHIC

H&M Magazine's spring issue features quite a sexy couple. Jacquelyn Jablonski and Texas Ollson pair up as a couple of young musicians exploring the city. I'm a hippie at heart, so the styling is right down my alley for this summer.

Hello tribal prints, fringe, and cut off jeans.
